About Julian

Ever committed to a contemporary holistic vision, Julian Walker blends soulful music, poetry, psycho-spiritual themes, tantric and shamanic breath and innovative sequencing into his signature ongoing classes, workshops, and retreats.
He has taught his hugely popular and ground-breaking mind-body workshop series, Yoga and the Chakras, for the last six years in Los Angeles, Connnecticut, New York, and Santa Cruz and has trained many teachers and bodyworkers in his unique approach.
He is co-creator, with anatomy teacher and bodyworker Ellen Heed, of Core Sequencing (now called Open Sky Healing Arts), a highly effective healing system that sequences the modalities of yoga, bodywork, and organ cleansing to facilitate core transformation.
Julian has been teaching yoga and practicing the healing arts of bodywork, therapeutic dialog and cleanse coaching in Los Angeles for the last 12 years. He spent three months in the east-meets-west Osho ashraam in India in 1995 and studied intensively in L.A. with master teacher Ana Forrest from 1992 to 1998, and was certified by her to teach.
Julian the sought-after bodyworker attended IPSB for basic massage training in 1997 and then quickly graduated to learn from and become colleagues with some of the most well-known bodyworkers in L.A. In 2001 he began training yoga teachers and in 2002 offered his first training in Core Sequencing Bodywork.
Julian the DJ/shaman began weaving an hour long ecstatic dance segment into his now legendary Funky Friday yoga classes in 2005. Julian the scholar continues to be deeply engaged in an ongoing study of growing edge therapeutic applications of bodywork and yoga, psychology, meditation, philosophy, nutrition, and energetics.
He is heavily influenced by the Transpersonal Pscyhology of Stan Grof and Ken Wilber, as well as world mythologist Joseph Campbell, mystic poets: Rumi, Kabir, Walt Whitman, William Blake, and Hafiz, and the work of vipassana meditation teacher/clinical psychologist Jack Kornfield.
In addition to collaborations over the years with Ana Forrest, Ellen Heed, and Vincent Saporito, he is part of the Yoga Groove Collective, a fundraising group, with Seane Corn, Hala Khouri, Ashley Turner and Suzannne Sterling.
Look out for Yoga Groove Collective Benefit events as well as a Teacher Training/Advanced Student Intensive collaboration at the Esalen Institute in beautiful Big Sur with Hala Khouri M.A. in 2008 - Urban Yogi: Contemporary Mind-Body Yoga!
With Hala, Julian has been co-facilitating a yoga teachers support group since 2005.
At present, Julian is working on a book called Making the Leap: 21st Century Spirituality.
