It’s also the place I debut my new music mixes, and tonight I have a CD hot off the presses that features MASS Ensemble, Shaman’s Dream, Ganga Giri, and more….it’s a trance-inducing ride!

This is the class that brings together my Forrest Yoga roots with Core Sequencing Yoga. I specifically moved this class from Forrest Yoga Circle to the smaller South Studio at Santa Monica Yoga a few months ago to maintain the intimate group energy and warmth of a smaller room. It’s quite different than my other classes in the much larger North Studio.

I hope you’ll join us tonight!

Funky Friday was fantastic last week and featured David and Russel ably holding down the Russel Feingold’s mesmerizing didjeridu playing during savasana! This week the mix features Massive Attack, Sinead, really fun remixed Jackson 5, Bodyrockers, Juno Reactor and the usual bone shaking tribal house selections!

Don’t forget that I am doing special holiday classes at 6:30 p.m. Friday December 23 and 30! Come and celebrate another journey through the cycle.

See you soon

Well, we took a break from Funky Friday for the first time in 35 weeks!

I missed weaving our Friday night sacred space with you all, but had a great holiday. I hope your Thanksgivings were delightful.

This Friday we are back on track, getting ecstatic – holding nothing back. :O)

In the mix: dreamy Nickodemus, funky Nikka Costa, passionate Sinead, the infectious tribal rythms of Bongolovers, Tom Tykwer’s deep trance, rare Jeff Buckley and more!

Keep your eyes peeled for my Yoga and Mythology workshops starting in January – these will be great!

Also look out for more info on Synergy Health: Life Force Nutrients. My series of cleansing and revitalizing supplement protocols (called The Program) are a great way to start the year off healthy, strong and ready to make your dreams a reality! I am so grateful to you all for continuing to co-create magic and meaning in our community of practice and healing. Special thanks for helping to ease my transition out of Forrest Yoga and into the new expanded schedule at Santa Monica Yoga – it feels great!

For those of you staying in town this week:

I will teach all of my classes except for Funky Friday this week. Santa Monica Yoga is closed the day after Thanksgiving.

So: Yes! There is class:

  • Tuesday 7:30 pm
  • Wednesday 6:30 pm
  • Saturday 9 am
  • Sunday 9 am

Come and touch base with your grateful heart, blow off some steam, and get centered again!

This past Funky Friday was the largest group yet. We had 51 people exploring the fun, sweaty, and transformational synthesis of yoga and free form dance! David, Dana, Laura, Eric, Laura and Steven all added live percusssion to the mix and we had many extra special guests and friends dancing with us for the first time that night! It was truly off-the-hook.

I look forward to celebrating through the holidays with you and opening to the deeper meanings inherent in this time of year and it’s rich symbolism.

Keep showing up through the next 6 weeks. We’ll all need community as the mainstream culture goes a little loopy! :O)

Check my site for info on workshops, retreats, cleansing supplements, bodywork, class descriptions etc…

See you soon

I hope you are enjoying this unpredictable fall weather – from Indian Summer to London “pea soup fog” and back again; sometimes in a single day!

Well, Tuesday nights at 7:30 pm are really happening now and I want to thank all of the students who came for so many years to Forrest Yoga and have bravely made the transition to the South studio at Santa Monica Yoga. We are creating the same energy in the new room though – it’s sweaty and intense, with a really strong healing intention and fiery group energy – not for the faint of heart! It’s been wonderful the last few months to have live musicians in class, especially on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. and on Friday Nights at 6:30 p.m! This is something I plan to continue expanding and incorporating into my classes, workshops and retreats. Bear in mind that I also have a new Saturday 9 a.m. class – this is the class that’s about a long deep stretchy warm up into strong abs and then a choice between flow and standing poses or creating your own deep stretch routine….it’s an awesome way to ease into your weekend! (and recover from Funky Friday.)

Wednesday’s continue to be a really sweet and somewhat less intense class – it’s a great group.

Last week’s Funky Friday was packed with newcomers – mostly friends of class regulars and we had a blast!

This Friday I have Ani Difranco (to balance out Britney from last week…:O), Herbie Hancock (featuring John Mayer), the unstoppable hip hop funk of Malente, some outrageous Middle Eastern flavored percussion (bring your belly dancing hips!), remixed Sinead O’Connor and more….

See you in class!

1) The Healing Breath Workshop this past weekend was so beautiful. It’s always such an honor to facilitate this powerful work and be part of such an enriching experience.

The day is broken up into two 90 minute breathing sessions that involve deep sustained energetic breath, pre-programmed loud music and partner support. After each breathing session, we take time to journal or do artwork and eat a light meal. Our time is split between the beautiful light (and world sacred art) filled sanctuary upstairs and the womb like sunken studio below. We limit the group to 14 participants, and have the perfect private location. It’s like a mini-retreat: 8 hours of community, practice, process and bonding. Those of you interested in what this work is about might pick up Stan and Christina Grof’s book: The Stormy Search for The Self. They are the creators of Holotropic Breathwork – the basis for my Healing Breath Workshops.

Don’t be fooled, deep intentional breath and evocative music can take you on one of the most profoundly meaningful trips imaginable!

You’ll have an opportunity to participate in these extraordinary day-long journeys in 2006 – we hold a Healing Breath Workshop every three months or so!

2) You know that tomorrow is Funky Friday night: Flow Yoga, Dance Meditation, live drummers. It’s an incredible experience!

Not a night club, not a choreographed dance class, Funky Friday is an extension of yoga practice into free form movement, dance-meditation and community celebration.

In the mix I have Imogen Heap, Prince, Juno Reactor, remixed U2, James Brown, and ummmm Britney Spears (!) as well as even more surprising music from a forthcoming movie… The Funk Soul Family Drum ensemble has promised to spice up the proceedings with live drums too.

3) Yoga and Mythology

This is the brand new workshop series I have been working on! It’s in the same format as Yoga and the Chakras: There will be a mythology talk, followed by yoga practice exploring the themes from the talk, then writing meditations to integrate the process – followed by our closing circle.

Expect surprises for the first workshop in the series: The Origins of Mythology!

Myths are the collective dreams of a culture. They give us a map to spiritual and psychological transformation. I am so happy to share my love of world mythology through the work of Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung and others…

Mark your calendars: Jan 29, Feb 26, Mar 26, Apr 23 – all from 2 – 5 pm at Santa Monica Yoga. $40 up until a week in advance of each workshop. $5 on the day. $140 for all four workshops (payable in advance or on Jan 29)

4) Synergy Health

I am in the midst of putting together a brochure for my new company: Synergy Health: Life Force Nutrition.

I have brought together the finest quality nutrients and cleansing herbs from around the world, using well-established industry leaders like Zand, Jarrow Formulas and Premier Research Labs, as well as cutting edge scientific breakthrough companies like East Park Research and Liv On Labs.

The 9 products that I use are grouped into specific protocols under the heading of “The Program”.

a) The Basic is a combination of nutrients for maintaining health, alkaline pH and fighting the effects of stress on your body.

b) The Booster combined with The Basic radically improves your immune system responsiveness, which is essential at this time of year!

c) Then there are three cleansing phases: Phase One: Colon and Liver Cleanse, Phase Two: Focused Liver Cleansing and Support, and Phase Three: The 28 day Anti-Bacterial, Viral, and Fungal Detox.

The Program is the result of my work with clients over the last decade to find ways to synergize yoga, bodywork and cleansing to create optimum health, as well as my highly motivated research project to successfully overcome my own health crisis last year. I also offer all the products to you at below retail prices!

julian <![CDATA[Introducing “The Program”]]> http://wdev.julianwalkeryoga.com/?p=3 2005-09-29T16:02:21Z 2005-09-29T16:02:21Z Announcements Hi Everybody,

This is to announce the launch of my “focused supplement protocols for optimum health”, called “The Program.”

Over the last decade, I have been gathering information, researching in-depth and exploring the nutritional aspect of health and healing and it’s synergistic relationship to yoga and bodywork. This process was enhanced and amplified by my studies and intensive cleansing/healing process with Dr. Vincent Medici in 1998.

What I found was that a lot of the chronic problems in my body, most notably my neck, improved dramatically as a result of cleansing. Prior to that, yoga and bodywork had only been moderately effective at:

a) healing my physical pain,

b) taking my strength and flexibility past a certain “wall”, and

c) engaging the transformational process of what I call “energetic initiation.”

After 8 months of serious cleansing protocols, yoga and bodywork literally meant something entirely different to my body!

The phrase I have come up with to explain why is: The body is one nation under blood! In other words, the quality of your bloodstream determines the health of every cell, indeed every tissue in your body. In turn, the quality of your blood is determined by a) the nutrients you are ingesting and b) the health of your organ systems, most notably the organs of elimination.

Toxic, acidic blood = reduced oxygen and nutrient uptake, depressed immunity, greater propensity toward injury, persistent pain, illness and degenerative disease.

Clean, alkaline blood = greater oxygen uptake, enhanced immunity, improved healing of pain, less propensity toward injury, illness and degenerative disease.

The shift from toxicity to greater purity and from acid to alkaline also allows the transformational energetic magic of yoga and bodywork to be experienced at a level that previously would have been completely shut out by the blood imbalances and their effect on the entire body and mind.

Many of you have already walked the path of cleansing with me for years, as part of your yoga and bodywork experience. You’ve been following my recommended protocols and testifying to the incredible benefits. For those of you who haven’t, think about it this way: would you put 200,000 miles on your car and never change the oil, rotate the tires or get new brake pads?

Life is stressful, and we live in an environment where toxins are unavoidable – it all takes it’s toll, and for centuries there have been natural medicinal remedies. Combine this perennial wisdom with present day cutting edge science and you have The Program.

Combine The Program with regular yoga and bodywork and the synergy is unbelievable!

It has come time for me to leave the nest of Forrest Yoga Circle.

As of September 1st, 2005 my class schedule at FYC will transfer over to Santa Monica Yoga.

I will teach my regular schedule through the month of August up to, and including, 7:15 pm Tuesday August 30th at Forrest Yoga.

Please come and share in these final few weeks in the room that has been home to me as a teacher for over 11 years!

Starting Saturday September 3rd, my 9am class will move to the spacious and beautiful North room at Santa Monica Yoga, 1640 Ocean Pk. Blvd.

Starting Tuesday September 6th, I will teach once a week at 7:30 pm in the more contained South room at Santa Monica Yoga. This will be the hot, juicy practice that so many of you have grown accustomed in my Tues/Thurs classes over the years!

To help with the transition, students new to Santa Monica Yoga will be offered a 20% discount on any class pass they purchase at my new Tuesday and Saturday classes there in September.

Otherwise my schedule remains unchanged. Weds and (Funky) Fri at 6:30 pm and Sunday at 9 am.

Starting September 1st, no Thursday night class for the moment – but I will teach Thursdays at FYC through the end of August.

Here’s how it looks, starting September 1st:

Day Time Location Details
Tuesday 7:30 pm South Studio, SMY Juicy Tuesday
Wednesday 6:30 pm North Studio, SMY Mid-Week Oasis
Friday 6:30 pm North Studio, SMY Funky Friday
Saturday 9:00 am North Studio, SMY Saturday Stretch
Sunday 9:00 am North Studio, SMY Yoga Church

I will finish up my regular schedule, available at coresequencing.com at both SMY and FYC through all of August, mixing up the class themes and sharing the energy of transition and rebirth.

It has been so inspiring to participate in the cross-studio community building that is so unusual in L.A. I leave with nothing but good wishes and high praise for the beautiful vision and healing intent of the dedicated Forrest Yoga professionals.

I am looking forward to a new level of creative partnership with SMY and it’s owner Bruce Bair that will include:

  • My new Yoga and Mythology workshop series starting in January
  • Yoga and the Chakras starting up again for it’s 6th straight year in September 2006
  • A Partner Yoga and Massage Workshop next Summer
  • Plans for a Core Sequencing Yoga Teacher Training Course with myself and Ellen Heed.

See you ‘round campus!
